Post Beast Feast Map
postbeastfeast: Check out the PBF map to find spots to feast and link to our reviews. It’s clickable!! I have a new blog.  The brilliant, dashing Bryan Rucker and I write “sharp” food reviews of places close to the newly opened UCBeast, on 3rd street and Avenue A. Bryan and I have taken your suggestion and made a clickable map.  Thank you to dear Ben Ragheb for talking us though...

Claude Debussy’s Études (L 136) are a set of 12 piano etudes composed in 1915. The pieces are extremely difficult to play, as Debussy himself admitted, describing them as “a warning to pianists not to take up the musical profession unless they have remarkable hands” [1]. They are broadly acknowledged as his late masterpieces.[2]

From Warholstars.org
OCTOBER 30, 1985: ANDY WARHOL FLIPS HIS WIG. While signing copies of his newly published America book at a Rizzoli bookstore in the Soho area of Manhattan, Andy Warhol’s wig was pulled off his head by a woman who threw it to a friend who escaped from the store. The woman was held until the police were called, but no charges were pressed. Fortunately, the Calvin Klein coat that...

Hello and apropos nothing specific between us, I wanted to share this — The Four Sufi Gates of Speech —is it honest? —is it necessary? —is it the right time? —is it kind? The “gates” are questions to consider before letting your words pass (or your letting your emails pass, I suppose!) They struck me as beautiful and useful: two of my favorite things — especially to end on...

'Cerned about Mispronouncing your friends' names?
Pinky Thakkar (silent “h”), an engineer from Mumbai, started the Web site www.pronouncenames.com after she moved to San Jose, Calif., and mispronounced the “J” in “San Jose,” not giving it the “H” sound used in Spanish words. Properly pronouncing person and place names proved nearly impossible for Ms. Thakkar and her friends from abroad, she...

At I Hate Perfume, Enfleurage, or LifeThyme.  Also, while doing research I found this great, cute quote: “LifeThyme… a great essential oils selection.  Right on 6th Ave by Greenwich, near a number of trains.  I like shopping the littler guy, and they were doing the Whole Foods thing long before Whole Foods.”

I Hate Perfume (is a store)
I listened to a delightful NPR segment on I Hate Perfume, a store in Williamsburg. (If you have some time here ‘tis, for posterity) It put me squarely in the thrall of their scent called In The Library.  Why yes, I would love to attract a bibliophile, my wrists giving off a warm blend of English Novel, Russian & Moroccan Leather Bindings, Worn Cloth and a hint of Wood Polish.  ...
